Hi

I have recently purchased a new apartment and was due to come over in September to kit it out

Owing to the recent drop in sterling I’m wondering if to buy everything in The Uk and drive over with my van loaded up to see money buying it loocal

My concern is will everything work In Spain ie tv kettle oven fridge and washer ... is it just a matter of changing the plug ? Also any issues at customs?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Andy

No problem with them working here, but don't even dream of bringing an electric shower.

I suggest you work out a price comparison, on the major white goods at least. Get prices from the likes of tien21.es, mediamarkt.es and carrefour.es.

Do the same in the UK and add the cost of transport, overnight stops, and return trip. Then factor in the exchange rate which, thanks to Boris, is the worst I've known it.

We costed everything on our last trip over and we’re happy to pay a little over the odds in Spain however now sterling has fallen sharply and obviously less Euro on exchange the uk goods are looking a lot cheaper to the equivalent in Spain I’m thinking even with on cost of driving it might be cost effective to bring them over

Thank goodness we locked in our Euros for the sale at a reasonable rate !

Kimmy, I must have got lucky with my microwave! I went into a local shop in Santa Pola (Rockos?) and got a great LG combo micro. I wanted a micro bigger than the usual “ reheat my plate “ variety but didnt actually want the full combo. The guy went through his books to find the right size and it just happened to be a full type. He ordered in & came around to our flat with it the next day with free delivery. :)

Have you looked at the electrical capacity in your new apartment ?

Some have as little as 3.3kw. A UK kettle or toaster can be 2kw or 3kw, so they can pop the electrical supply.

The equivalent appliances in Spain have lower power consumptions (but take longer the cook).

From person experience I wouldn't buy anything electrical from the chino market stores

Electromuebles Roque, Av. Portus Ⅱ - Licitanus, S/n, 03130 Santa Pola, Alicante, Spain

+34 965 41 61 91

It’s quite a good size store. Light fittings , washers, micros, sofas, beds & more .

They deliver same day if it’s in stock, usually after 4pm
