Ive read that if you are retired UK person and on NHS we don't need to buy the 1st year of spanish private health care insurance when moving to Spain I can get an S1 straight away? Is this true please

You Don't need to have private healthcare insurance if you are a UK passport holder and receiving UK government pension.
Apply for the S1 which is sufficient for the NLV application.
