You have people visiting from Ireland.  one has a medical emergency let's say a heart attack or a breathing problems no travel insurance but have a EU health card .   Who do you Call ?

Worse case scenario some one dies the name of a good reasonable undertaker to repatriate

Thanks for your help.  John

In event of emergency Phone 112,  ask for English speaker.

EHIC and Passport will be needed at hospital at some point.
Both with same names just like airline ticket.

EHIC does NOT cover repatriation.
Costs approximately 10,000€

First phone 112 in event of death.
Then phone Irish consulate in Alicante or Madrid.

Hopefully no need to make that call!

Regards

Maria

Thanks for your reply .we were told that all      ambulance in benidorm are private and will only take you to a private hospital that does not accept EHIC Card.

Is this not the case. Or do you demand to be taken to a public hospital?

Sorry I don’t know about ambulances in Benidorm.
Nearest full public hospital to Benidorm is in the town of Villajoyosa.

Usually an unwell person would attend their local 24hr Centro
de Salud and could be transferred to hospital from there.

Someone with Benidorm knowledge may answer :)
