Hi, looking forward to using the site and gaining information from all the topics.

My wife and myself and our little dog travel annually, usually end October to mid April  to the Benidorm area in our motorhome and stay in the general area in the many sites there. We’re based here in a Ireland and travel to Santander from Cork. Interested in meeting people, becoming members of clubs and getting involved. Looking forward to our annual trip already.

We intend to travel to the Quesada area in the future. Probably stay from November to March and also travel from Cork to Sandander with our Jack Russell. What route do you take in Spain and do you need to book the ferry well in advance. Enjoy your stay in Spain.

Last time from Santander across the northern coast of Spain and down the western coast of Portugal all the way to the Algarve and up the coast from Malaga to the Costa Blanca taking a month or so to do that leg of the trip,  we settle in for a couple of months somewhere on the Costa Blanca and home via Zaragoza, Pamplona, up via Bordeaux and western coast of France and sail to Rosslare or Dublin from Cherbourg, taking 14 days or so to get back home from Spain.

Yes, book ferry early as Brittany ferries who operate the Cork/Santander route only have facilities for dogs on board in pet friendly cabins which are limited in number. It’s a 26 hour crossing and a cabin is mandatory. The crossing for 2 people, the dog and an 8 metre motorhome and a two berth cabin on the ferry is approx €550 each way. We always return via France as we enjoy that leg of the trip.

Hi there

Thanks for your reply. We will keep that option in mind when travelling over.  We would hope to do all the travel within a few days.  Many thanks again and good luck with your trip. Enjoy

Try going down the coast. La marina has some lovely cheap sites.

Camper man Costa.

Yeah, we’ve stayed in that area, so any options all along the coast there...... excellent.

In that case I’d travel Santander/Bilbao/Logroño/Zaragoza/Teruel/Valencia and the AP7 south. You could do the med coast in one push from Santander but we’re never in a rush and take a few days going down when heading directly to the Costa Blanca. We’ll probably head down towards Malaga or Murcia via Madrid this trip but will make that call depending on weather.

Again many thanks. I think the Bilboa and the AP7 would be our preferred option.  It would be the quickest option in the long run.
