There are several animal rescue centres in and around Benidorm, look on the Internet.

There are no "fast track" ways of making friends in Benidorm but you could join the U3A and meet like minded people who are members. Otherwise it's usually friends who know friends etc etc. There are no particular places where people go to meet up.......

There is a walking group from camping villamar I think twice a week and

Benidorm International Friendship Club (find on Facebook) meet at camping Villasol every Wednesday, they have regular get-togethers, nights out, coach trips and everyone is very friendly, companions club in Albir also offer something similar

If you have a look on Facebook there are various groups for meeting up. The dog rescue has a page for walking the dogs on a Tuesday. See attached photos
