Hi

ifI’ve just arrived from the uk and am spending a few days looking around the area hoping to find an expat community where I could visit. I have the use of a hire car so can travel around easily. I am very interested in the area around Benidorm as I feel it has a lot to offer. I’m retired and single and would love to get as much advice and help as I can. I play golf in the uk and enjoy All sports. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it !
Regards

Dave.

You   are aware  of  the  90 day  rule for UK  🇬🇧 passport  holders  and  moving  permanently  is  very  difficult  if  you choose  to  do  so,

I retired early to come and live at Benidorm 10 years ago and have enjoyed every day since arriving here. My OH and I have made many friends here, English, Spanish and other nationalities. We live in an apartment just on the edge of the entertainment areas.

Albir, Alfaz and Altea, La Cala and Villajoyosa are all within a short drive away. Bus services are cheap and plentiful.

I'll try and help if you have specific questions.

But Hi Steve, thanks for replying. I feel I must have been a bit naive coming down to this area and expecting to find communities where expats live. Probably watched too much TV !  I’ve been a little frustrated as I have not had much response from my posts. I was hoping to get some advice as to any areas where I could meet people and learn a bit from them. I know the 90 day rule applies ! But I hoped for a bit more than that. Anyway if you could I would love to receive any help at this early stage.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Dave

Try  U3A.org,  they  organise  meet up,  walks, day out, but  unfortunately I  don't  know much about  Benidorm,  I  am based  in  Torrevieja  where they is  a big  ex pat  English  speaking  community

There are hundreds of expats living here in Benidorm but they don't have formal meet- ups or designated places for get-togethers.

Expats just meet at their local bar and chit-chat or maybe organise something.  Call in at a English owned bar and start talking to people. There are several expat bars in the Rincon area, maybe try a couple of bars on Calle Londres. A bit of effort gets results.

Hi Dave.

Benidorm has a lot to offer. To start with. I would go and visit the many camp sites in Benidorm and Al Faz de pi. You can have a drink or something to eat without being a resident and there you will find many expats to speak to about the area and what's going on. the good places to look at and not!

Thiers a nice par 3 golf course called Las Rahas in Benidorm and quite a few ex pats play there in the morning on  Tuesdays Saturdays and Sundays. " Me included"

Take a good look at villajoyosa to the south and Abir and altea to the North of Benidorm.. Very nice towns with a great sea fronts.

Lastly you will need to get a visa to live here permanently and by that you will need to meet the criteria set out by the Spanish government. There are good and bad agents that can help you through that process.

Hi Dave,

good luck with your quest to move to the Benidorm area.

I'm thinking seriously about getting an NLV and doing the same.I know Benidorm fairly well and would look at the quieter Poniente side although Lots of rentals in the Rincon area.

At 60 and retired it's now or never...my wife can't make the move just yet.Suits me sir.

Always lots of good advice on this forum.

Jason
