You may find it difficult to get the correct paperwork to come here from America; we have American friends who have moved here and it was a nightmare and incredibly expensive for them. I appreciate that you may have a British passport, but would honestly suggest you go to your nearest Spanish embassy and find out what the legal requirements may be.

Summer work, as you probably know, is mainly going to be low -paid bar work, and there are thousands of people trying to get into it, including native Spanish speakers.

You may find it easier to go back to UK first for a while, it’s really not going to be that much simpler here.

Without a defined trade you will not earn enough to cover your living costs. So unless you've a ton of savings, don't do it and go back to the UK.

Why Benidorm? Well paid jobs are in the industrial areas and many British Companies have branches in Spain. My recommendation is to get in touch with the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain http://www.britishchamberspain.com/ for a first idea.
