Hello everyone.

Just looking a bit of information please. I currently live in northern Ireland and would possibly like to move to benidorm. I have been a domiciliary care worker now for a number of years. Would it be difficult for me to move there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Ann

If you have an Irish passport then you can move over to Benidorm and sign on the foreigners register.

English speaking care workers are often in demand but if you do get a job, care workers are not very well paid and its typically around €7.50 an hour. You would need to drive but need not necessarily speak Spanish.

Many care companies don't offer contracts.

I have lived in Benidorm for years and enjoy every day 😄

Yes they on (typically) €7.50 per hour which equates to £6.34 at this time.

A friend of mine runs a home care company in Benidorm and they charge the service users €17 per hour which less than half goes to the carer the rest goes towards paying for contracts, petrol claims, and company profits.

Wages here in Benidorm in any profession are notorious for being low as many are willing to work and happy to have a job. Benidorm unemployment is very high and has not yet recovered from covid.

Many people used to arrive in Benidorm and got bar work etc only to find very low wages and working alot of hours.

A friend of mine that has lived in Spain for 20+ years now works one month on one month off in the UK as a live in 24/7 carer. The money in the UK is better than Spain and when she’s in the UK she spends very little.Shes 55 and her family live in Spain but she just couldn’t earn enough here with her skill set to live. Now she comes back and she’s a ten bob millionaire!
