You wouldn't be able to certify electrical installations here with having Spanish qualifications. And without that certification, plus the jobs shortage here, and the lack of building work going on, I doubt you'd find any work doing first fits etc. Don't expect to be able to use any stock of T & E you've got - the Spanish don't like the earth not being insulated and being smaller than live and neutral. They use single wires for everything, which is why what pass for junction boxes here look like such a mares nest, and why wires get connected wrongly.

That said, there should be plenty of work available on a jobbing basis, as the standard of wiring here is pretty abysmal. I've had to do lots of rewiring in our house to correct faults (blue wires carrying live feed, feed going out from one circuit breaker and back into another, oven hob and sockets all on one circuit, etc). I've also done a lot of additional wiring to put in extra sockets and lights, in some cases ripping out completely the original wiring.

Sockets and switches are pretty hard to describe. The nearest equivalent to MK is Simon, but even a single socket consists of several components, if you want a double socket you have to wire two singles together, if you want a switched socket, you have to add a separate switch, etc, etc. They've not heard of ring circuits, loop-in ceiling roses, etc, and junction boxes are just a plastic box and a terminal strip. Because of all this, it takes a lot longer to do a job.

If it were me looking for work, I'd stick with the English community, and try to get myself into houses by offering a free survey. Whilst doing that, you could be pointing out the need for extra sockets in the kitchen etc, or suggesting that if the oven and hob were on a separate circuit, then people wouldn't have problems with the mcb tripping.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I will need work doing in my apartment I'm buying  before the summer. New fuse board and a couple of light switches moving when I remove a stud wall. Anyone have any recommendations? May need the qualifications as the power is cut off at the moment and I'm trying to get it re connected but have been told it can take a while and be expensive. It is a bank repossession.

Thanks
