I wish you luck but you almost certainly need to secure a job before you make the move.

Spanish companies naturally tend to employ native Spanish drivers, and with plenty of unemployed people around, I don't think they have much trouble finding them. But maybe, for example, if you can find a firm that runs to UK, they will see the benefits of employing you.

You will probably need to change your driving licence and digicard to Spanish ones. I've done both. I would guess that you will also need to take a cpc course, as I doubt that a Spanish company will accept your UK Driver's Qualification Card, because it is linked to your DVLA licence. In Spain it's called a CAP - Certificado Aptitud Profesional. Driver CAP courses are arranged by local driving schools.

Good luck.

Geoff.

Hi,

To be able to move over to Benidorm and work you will need a work visa.

You will need to secure a position first and then your prospective employer will need to apply for a visa from the Spanish consulate.

All jobs by law must be offered to an EU citizen first. It's highly unlikely that they cannot find an EU citizen to fill any available position.

The easiest route to live in Spain permanently is to wait for retirement and apply for a non lucrative visa whereas you can't work.

You should find all the information about working in Spain, if you are a non EU passport holder, by clicking on the following link:
