Bag stolen in Benidorm - It was handed in but I need help/advice please?

I am so hoping that someone can help me and thank goodness for your website I wish that I had known about this 4 weeks ago!.  I had my bag stolen in Benidorm on the 28th April and the thieves took what they wanted and dumped it.  Someone handed it to the nearest Hotel as it still had my passport and mobile phone in it.  It was handed to the Palm Resort Hotel.  As I wasn't aware of it being handed in here I had gone to the police and reported it on 29th April.  I had an awful time as it was the bank holiday the consulate was closed until the following Tuesday and this meant that I couldn't get home until Wednesday 3rd May!  My original flight was due to take me home on the 30th April!

The Hotel had hold of it for 5 days and so I was home by the time they sent it to the police.  How I got to know all of this is because the Hotel receptionist noticed a number popup on the front screen of my phone and called it.  It was my estate agent that is marketing my house. She left a message with the estate agent to tell me where the bag was but of course she could only email me as my phone was in the bag.  I picked up the email on my arrival home!

As the Hotel had it for 5 days and then sent it off to lost property at the police station and when I managed to call them they had sent it to the consulate in Alicante.  I called the consulate and they said that they would have kept the passport and given the bag back to the police.

I have been trying to trace where exactly it is now in order to at least recover my phone as there are so many cherish memories on there that I will never get back of my grandchildren growing up and my late grandparents etc.  I sickens and saddens me so much when I think about it all and the fact that some kind person handed it in for me pleased me immensely but I have a language barrier as I don't speak Spanish and I can't find it.

Could someone try to help me please?  I would be so relieved and grateful if they could.

My friend is there at the moment and said that if I trace it by Saturday she will pick it up for me.  It'd a brown Michael Korrs across the shoulder bag and the phone is an iPhone 6S 32gb.

PS If it helps the crime reference number recorded with the police in Benidorm was 5632/17 and the officer's number was 114746 reported on 29th April 2017.  I am contactable through email or mobile 07879881986
