Super helpful member
Get the certificate from your resgistry office and have it legalized by the nearest Spanish consulate or embassy.

Hola Lucyana,
I had this process in 2021 and completed my application "online" with Reading registry (where we got married back in 1997!). By the way, I even rang beforehand to double-check the procedure whereby it was confirmed to me that a new document would be produced (hand written etc) but dated according - not the original 1997 date. As part of the service (cost £11 from memory?), I had this document sent to a UK address (in this case, my brother in law) and then forwarded to Milton Keynes office (which in turn forwarded the completed / apostilled document to my Spanish home) for the apostil service - https://www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised. Makes sense?
Hope this helps!

Hi My husband and I have just done this. Had to get a new copy from Plymouth first. To be honest we just gave it to our lawyer to get things done and it cost 100 euros and they also translated it into Spanish. We were told it could take about a month to get the Apostilla sorted.
