Hi. I love Spain, especially Benidorm. I currently live in the UK. But really want to move to Benidorm. I believe you only have one shot in life and you have to live your life to the full. Is it cheaper to live in Benidorm than England?

Hello, yes, it is generally cheaper to live in Spain than the UK but you do have to prove that you can sustain yourself here before you can become a resident. Jobs are harder to find and lower paid and will be even worse if you do not speak Spanish and if you are under retirement age, you will need to have private medical insurance. Search on this site for Jim´s guides under Everywhere for a compete guide to moving to Spain.

Like for like yes and significantly so in virtually all areas. Property purchase and rental can be a fraction of UK although for obvious reasons not so much in the big cities.

Another caveat is the potential cost of private healthcare if you don't qualify for the state system.

Second hand cars are expensive but as a one off occasional purchase it's not really fair to include that in the cost of living.

Of course the elephant in the room is that for the average Joe (no pun intended! ) Brexit may well kill any ideas of moving to Spain stone dead.

What is "cheap"? a pint of bitter for 3,-, a meal for 9,- plenty of sun for free, booze indeed is cheaper than in the UK, housing depends on location, in Benidorm during the summer months exorbitant, I'd check the surrounding area.Good luck.

Hi, I live in Benidorm and find it substantially cheaper to live than the UK. As has been said if you are below pension age you will need private health insurance and prove you have enough income so not to become a burden on the state.

Jobs are difficult to find in Benidorm especially if you don't speak Spanish.

Apartments that come on the market are snapped up within hours. 2 bed around 500€ per month,  1 bed around 350 per month.

Brexit might mean many changes to income and  Healthcare.....beware!!!

Best of luck

Jobs in Benidorm are few depending on what you can do. Bar work is usually given to family and friends.

Odd job men are here by the thousand and work for less than minimum wage.

Man with van are everywhere.

You will need to be here and do the rounds calling in places to see if anything going.

If you speak Spanish and can do something unusual it might help.

I have replied to your other posts too.....

Since Brexit you will need to apply for a visa from the Spanish consulate while you are still living in the UK. You will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements. If you intend to work you will need your prospective employer to sponsor you with a work visa.

The prospective employer will need to prove that they have offered the position to anyone within the EU first and cannot find an EU citizen to do the job.

https://visaguide.world/europe/spain-visa/

If you are successful in getting a visa you can then move to Spain and apply for residency.
