Hi guys! I'm wanting to stay in Benidorm, for a couple of months from Jan, with a view to moving there. Unfortunately due to disability, I'm on benefits with no savings, or property to sell. Basically my worth is my benefits. I'm looking for someone who could offer me just a bedroom, with maybe a TV and bathroom facilities. I don't have much money, but I'm willing to help out too. I'll consider anything. Thanks in advance for any help xxx

How to apply for a Non-Lucrative visa (NLV)

If you are a UK passport holder the rules have changed significantly since Brexit and benefits will not provide you with the required income levels to get a visa.

Hi Jeanette,

We are both in the same position which means that due to rules we can only spend 90 days out of 180 in Spain etc and certainly no chance of a visa.

David.

As has been mentioned.....to live here in Benidorm permanently you will need to apply for a non lucrative visa. To gain a NLV visa you will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements. You need to prove an income of around €27,500 per annum and have full private healthcare paid for a full year.

Hi Steve, if you are on certain disability benefits you can get an S1 prior to retirement age so won't need  private medical insurance.

Yes certain benifits used to entitle you to an early S1 but I don't think you can apply for it until you have a Spanish address.

You can apply for it in the UK before you move over. Probably best rather than rely on post as it can take 28 days to get here.

They will not post S1 forms to a UK address.

My OH got her S1 through a disability exportable benefit 7 years ago but she could only have it sent to a Spanish address.

Give it a try.
