Hi,

I have lived here in Benidorm for nearly 9 years and love it here. I knew that I wanted to retire here as I'd had many holidays here over the years. I live in the Rincon area of the new town which has a variety of different nationalities living permanently. Each area has its unique features and it will depend upon the lifestyle you require.

If you have specific questions then I'm happy to help but your post can be answered in many different ways depending whether the poster answering is satisfied with their lot.

Several long holidays are recommended in different locations of Benidorm.

why benidorm?

is it for the supposed cost of living?

You have had a 2 week holiday here?

You have watched a tv series?

Think Brighton; with more sun but in Spanish and maybe a little cheaper in the long term

Spain is a big country, if you need cheaper then there is torrevieja and many other places

Hiya you didn't say where you're moving from because moving here from the UK isn't an easy task like it used to be.

Also why Benidorm? There are many areas of Spain that offer a lot for expats, when moving you need to visit a few places and decide where is best for you. Personally I would move back to Tenerife tomorrow if given the opportunity (although the Canarians don't call themselves Spanish). But other prefer Ibiza or the Costa del Sol and even Gibraltar, which although isn't Spain it's got a lot to offer lifestyle wise

If you go for Benidorm, make sure you get a place with a garage included. Some buses but expect to walk a lot, so get a place near where you want to be.

Benidorm is expensive and there are cheaper places. I am not a beach person and that is one thing you are paying for in Benidorm.

Now that is total rubbish......

There are very many busses running in all directions all day long.

Benidorm is no more expensive than anywhere else and cheaper than Albir etc.

You should give examples to back up ridiculous statements 🙄

Depends on what you're after, the pharmacies are more expensive there than Vila Joiosa. But the supermarkets and restaurants can vary depending where you go and what you're looking for, which is the same as everywhere. I personally find English bars more expensive for what your actually getting by comparison to Spanish bars if you drink spirits. Iceland is complete rip off but it's understandably very popular but again there are Icelands all over. However if you mean expensive as in apartment/house rentals then yes it is very expensive but its because it's central and close to the nightlife and local transport for the outer areas.

I have to disagree that apartment rentals are high in Benidorm compared to other towns.

I live in an apartment in the popular Rincon area and it's 10 mins walk to the beach and 25 mins walk to the old town.

I moved into this apartment 8 years ago and paid €500 per calendar month..... guess what, I still pay €500 per Calendar month. Is that expensive for a 3 bed apartment? Cheaper than some campsites on the outskirts. Supermarkets are similar prices, Consum, Dialprix, Masymas (where the Spanish shop too) there is minimal difference unless you want mostly English brands (that is why Iceland is expensive) Over the first couple of years here we found many Spanish brand alternatives that tasted just as good and can keep the shopping bills in check.

Yes 500 is alot sorry but also for Benidorm its cheaper than what most I know pay. I lived in 3 bedroom in La Nucía with terrace of 6x8metres for 450. Now I live in La Vila and pay more because I need land for work so it's a choice of the luxury that I pay that. Both are better than the campsites tbf.

...s tbf.

The difference is that La Nucia is 10 km inland from the coast. That means you can get rentals far cheaper there than in Benidorm so it's not a comparison really.
