Where to live Costa blanca
Can anyone suggest an area to live on Costa blanca that is not too busy...not too British... Not too expensive to rent and buy and possibly by the coast.
Thank you

Hi Lucy,
completely generalising, but! the southern Costa Blanca (Benidorm and south of it) has a higher British population in the coastal towns but is often cheaper to buy. The northern Costa Blanca (north of Benidorm) has less Brits as a percentage of the population but can be a little more expensive to buy near the coast (i.e. within 1km of the Med)
But there are exceptions to this. If you're prepared to be a little inland (up to 5km) you'll find property is considerably cheaper.
Denia might fit your bill. Retains its Spanish identity and because there are so many rental apartments you can get deals on long term rental.
If you drive I would recommend having a holiday visiting both areas, exploring and getting a feel for where you like. You can drive from say Alicante airport to Denia in 1hr30 on the N332 which would give you the chance to stop off along the way, then do similar south of the airport and you'll soon get a feel for where you like and don't like.
Happy hunting! Steve
Thank you for taking the tie to reply with all that information. I was in Alicante in January and I am flying out again in May. I will certainly use the information you have supplied and explore the areas.

Hi Lucy, we have just retired to Santa Pola on the southern costa blanca which is about 10/15 minutes south of Alicante airport. We moved here because having holidayed in Spain a number of times we felt that this best met our requirements which are similar to yours. It's not too British (approx. 80% Spanish), short transfer time from the airport, has a very safe feel at any time of the day or night and is right on the coast. We move in to our new home on 22nd March which is approximately 800 metres from the beach and a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. Good luck in your search for your new home. Russ
Thank you. I appreciate your information. I will most definitely look at Santa Pola. I have heard of it but never read up on it, therefore never considered there, I am out in May and will certainly put Santa Pola on my list.
Kind regards,
