I have been reading that it is a Spanish custom to always where slippers in the house. I have tried to google this but cannot find any answers.  Can anyone enlighten me please.

My girlfriend always wears "zapatillas" for me!

I wear (normally!) flip-flips because I have two left feet (she sez!)

Not only slippers at home, but it is mandatory to wear your dressing gown outside in the morning, up until 11 am. It's fine to wear your dressing gown to the shops too, as long as you wear slippers as well.

However, curlers are banned in public!

In the evening, you must put two chairs out on the pavement so that passers by can sit down and have a chat with you. Some spanish people even bring the sofa outdoors in the evening so that they can chat in even greater comfort.

For los hombres, a bottle of beer shared with neighbours sitting on the nearest bit of waste land, or even a roundabout if one is handy.

Be careful listening to other immigrants.

In most cities you will receive a pretty big fine for putting your 2 chairs on the sidewalk in front of your apartment-house.

Not in the Spanish towns - maybe in tourist areas 😉

When living in an apartment I think that it is necessary to wear soft slippers so that you do not disturb your neighbours in the apartment under yours.

I stayed in  ground floor, Urbanova. Always nights in The " Chill out Bar"

I always had a head-ache, as the neighbour (above!) woke every day( 0600hrs) and walked with tacones for every day.....muchos recuerdos..  I bought slippers, but never used them! V

Have you ever tried tap dancing in soft slippers!

Completely spoils the effect 😊

RayD and Villas - How funny.  Your replies are hilarious.  I only queried this as someone said you must never be barefoot.  Is this a load of nonsense then. Looking forward to your thinking on that.
