Hello, I'm a Portuguese-Macanese girl living in Hong Kong with my HongKonger husband. We grew up when HK was still a British Colony so we have no problem at all in English, and I speak basic Spanish too.

We are so lucky to find this forum IN ENGLISH 3 months before we are moving to Spain. We have planned to move to Spain since many visits to the country and Benidorm is the first priority. We will bring our two dogs also.

I have already applied for an NIE number through the Spanish Embassy here in HK with my Portuguese passport. May I seek for some advice for us to start our new page of life here in Benidorm?

- Where should we go to register our residency in Benidorm when we arrive? The Police Station of the Casa de Fester (is it the City Hall)? Since my husband is a non-EU citizen, shall we apply for residency together?

- Is there vet clinic so we can get a EU passports for our dogs too?

- We would like to start up our own business in Benidorm, probably selling Hong Kong colloquial food OR providing Japanese games entertainment, may I know what license we have to apply?

Sorry for so many questions, any advice will give us so so so much help. THANKS GUYS!

I can only give you a pointer in one direction. Have a look at:

https://www.costablancaforum.com/area/almorad%C3%AD-spain-11/residency-in-almorad%C3%AD-padron-residencia-passport-advice-23/jims-guide-the-residency-certificate-43535/

With a Portuguese passport, which presumably means you can be treated as an EU citizen,  you won't have a problem, and your husband could apply as a family member.

Good luck!

Jims guides on this forum provide a lot of helpful information as do other people who share their knowledge.

Have you heard about this https://www.internations.org/spain-expats/guide

I have attended events by Internations in Alicante City.  There were many people there who shared their experiences about  aquiringVisas etc to live and work in Spain as non-EU citizens.

Perhaps something useful?  Best of luck :)
