Hi, last February 2020 finally bought our apartment in Benidorm. Havent been since ,but still paying large electricity bill even though no usage. We didnt negotiate for a cheap deal as we thought we would be there quite a bit. Is there any advice anyone could give to get a better rate. Bye the way this is a great site and many thanks to the administrator. Responses gratefully received.

Hi Stephen,

Is Iberdrola your supplier? If so, they have a great website (launch it from Google Chrome if you need it in English):

https://www.iberdrola.es/

You can change your contract online, if you want to; you can also arrange to speak to an English-speaking advisor - telling them that you're thinking of switching suppliers is usually a good way to get a better deal 😉

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Kim

You'll pay a standing charge for electricity every month even if its turned off at the fuse box. We're paying around €15 - €16 a month when we're not there.

You water bill is probably quarterly and is the same. We're paying about €70 per quarter for this with no usage. Bear in mind your water bill may include a charge for sewage and refuse collection too.
