Hello there I am interested in buying a dog from Benidorm but have read bad reports. Can anyone help with details of their experiences positive/negative?

Presuming that 'Benidorm' is not the name of an actual dog dealer I don't know what sort of response you expect from such an open question?

You have to at least identify the dealer who you're thinking of buying from, how can anybody give you feedback otherwise?

There are so many abandoned dogs on death row here have you thought about getting one from a shelter where it is likely to have been checked over by a vet? There are plenty of puppies if you don't want to take an older dog.

Hi there

Benidorm not the name of the dealer: I’m on holiday here and noticed many of the seafront shops selling dogs. Are they safe to buy ?

I simply wouldn't consider buying any live animal from a seafront shop in a tourist resort full stop.

You say you are ‘on holiday’ here? Presume that you would be intending to take the animal back to UK?

This will involve obtaining a pet passport from a vet, which includes anti rabies vaccine, which is not an overnight procedure and there are waiting periods after the vaccination. Plus worming and whatever other medications required for dogs (sorry, we do cats!!!).

Would also echo previous posts - do NOT buy animals from seafront shops in a tourist area, quite apart from the distress these animals may well be in, there are unlikely to be any safeguards. PLEASE go to one of the many animal shelters where they will be only too pleased to help you.

We have just taken 2 x small white cats rescued from living in a field with a donkey - no,not the donkey also! These are, however, semi-feral, and had we not been living here full time in the campo, we would not have contemplated it, as they are proving extremely difficult to ‘humanise’. So be careful with a dog!

Benidorm dog home have many ma desperate dog wanting homes. They vaccinate and sort passport for you. You can use a ferry or eurotunnel to travel home with a pet. But you will need to get rabies vaccine then wait three weeks before you can travel. Then within three days of arriving in uk dog will need a worming tablet given by a vet who will sign the passport. So many things to consider.
