Hi Janet,

Benijofar is a great little town.  We have friends who live on Atalaya Park (not to be confused with Atalaya Hills, which is in Rojales).  They can walk into the centre of Benijofar in 10 minutes or, in the opposite direction, to Ciudad Quesada in 5 minutes.

It has some local shops and twice weekly markets (Tuesday and Friday), although for 'serious shopping', you'd need to drive 15 minutes to Habaneras shopping centre at Torrevieja.  It has some fabulous restaurants: 'La Cata' and 'El Gusto' being two of my favourites for dinner, whilst the quality of the tapas at 'Bar Lucas' is the best I've tasted.

The facilities serving the urbanisations of Benimar are 5 minutes walk from the centre of Benijofar, where a new commercial centre is currently being built.  The town has a bank, medical centre, vets, pharmacy, butcher, baker, post room and easy access to several supermarkets and a couple of petrol stations.  It's also well served for driving, with good links to the A7 for travelling to Alicante airport and further afield.   Also, it's only a 10-15 minute ride to the lovely coastal town of Guardamar, with it's beautiful parks, beaches and promenade.

Benijofar has the most vibrant Tapas Trail of all we've followed (usually in October).  If the property we have in Los Palacios had been available on the outskirts of Benijofar, I would have moved there.  Benijofar's Town Hall (Ayuntamiento) certainly doesn't seem to skimp on spending money for the benefit of their residents.

Kind regards,

Kim

I don't live there but visit regularly and I agree with Kim 100%. El Gusto is fantastic and I also like Maite on Calle del Sol. I use Hamilton's British butchers, their bakery, Medcare for the dentist and have had delicious tapas at various traditional bars in and around the main street and they have all been very friendly and helpful.

Hi Janet,

I checked the display board last night, but at the moment it's just an artist's impression of the finished development.

Kind regards,

Kim

Lived in Benijofar since July and love the friendly locals, great facilities, bars and restaurants. Did several years research and explored a variety of locations before settling here. Delighted with our choice! 😎

Thanks so much for this. Myself, husband and two dogs have bought a house in Benjiofar and are hopefully moving over end of September. Although we visited many areas in the region before purchasing our house, Benijofar seemed to really tick all the boxes for us. So excited to move and find this forum incredibly helpful.

Hi, where is the display board so we could also view the artist impression of the new commercial centre?
