What is the deal with all of these fireworks going off in Benijofar? I got woken up at midnight last night by someone letting off fireworks.

Possibly connected with:

["From the 15th to the 26th of July in Benijófar in honor of San Jaime the festive acts do not stop. The town exudes joy, fantasy, coexistence and history and we are proud that more and more people join in enjoying all of this"].

Could be practice for the fiesta, which starts of the weekend, but could likely be coming from Algorfa as that’s in the middle of their fiesta week.

As already mentioned Benijofar start their fiesta on Saturday. Don’t worry you won’t hear the daily or nightly fireworks as they’re usually drowned out by the noise of the brass bands and parades during the day and the disco’s every night with music blasting out till dawn. You can normally get one or two hours sleep after the disco has finished, because at sunrise the rockets and fireworks herald the start of a new fiesta day.

You’ll get the noise in stereo by the way as Guardamar’s Moors & Christians is on at the same time

The fiestas seem bigger and better this year, because they’ve not been celebrated for the past two years.  All I can say in join in, you may not understand everything, but the Spanish certainly know how to throw a party.  They are crazy and wild, the atmosphere is unbelievable and they love it when other nationalities embrace their traditions. The fiestas are most definitely one of the best things about living in Spain.

See  you at the Chupinazo on Saturday

It’s the rocket heralding the start of the fiesta by the town hall

Parade starts at 10 and the water party starts at at 11.30

See you there, but don’t tell anyone about the free beer!

In Almoradi the Moors and Christians fiesta is normally heralded in about 2 a.m. with the fireworks.
