Why are these people so stupid, running around wearing high end watches. It's also a bit difficult to recognise a watch from a moving car.

Ok.  Note, I am far from stupid!!  This is like being in a time warp.  It’s a long time since we stopped victim blaming in the UK.  If I want to wear my ‘high end’ watch on holiday then that’s what I’ll do.  I and everyone else has a right NOT to expect to be mugged.  Cowering away from criminals through fear is not the answer.  Would be far better to provide people with advice on being aware of their surroundings, looking out for and reporting suspicious activity, knowing how to contact the police etc.

Just another reminder of why I rarely post on this forum .

Perhaps you best not then if you’re so sensitive to criticism.

The Southern Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol are the main target areas. I'd say why but don't want to get a ban. I'm sure people can work it out for themselves 😎

Not sure why you would get banned.

It´s pretty obvious.

Criminals have no morals, the easier the target the better.

Areas, where there are old people, drunk people, busy locations, and people on holidays,  as people have cash etc - are all areas that criminals target - in Spain or anywhere else.

Be vigilant, use your brain - which is half the problem. Don´t walk around flashing your cash or your Rolex or your Berksha handbag, don´t look like a drunken tourist or someone vulnerable and don´t leave your handbag or valuables on your seat with the car door open. Don´t take your eyes off anyone for a second if something out of the ordinary occurs.

Be aware of where you are travelling of your surroundings. Be instantly aware of other peoples proximity to you and be wary of strangers bumping into you or people getting unusually close or going to touch you that you are not familiar with.

Keep your eyes fixed firmly on their eyes if a person in front of you. A common trick is to get you to look away, distraction, which is why often people get asked for the time, only to look up and then its too late.

Violent crimes are generally quite low in Spain, but thieves like easy pickings, so thievery and the like to those snoozing or weak is easy meat for them, just by being a little more aware you can avoid much of this.
