Hi all, I'm just after a little info on the general annual running costs of owning your own medium sized pool. I currently own a property in Benimar that has a communal pool however I'm looking to possibly upgrade to a slightly bigger property but I'm unsure of whether to stick with something that has a communal pool or look at properties with a pool of it's own. I have no idea what's involved in having a pool or the running costs. If anyone has any information or tips it may help me to make up my mind. Thank you  June x

Hi June,

My husband maintains our pool - we're early retirees, so he has plenty of time 😉  Costs for pool companies seem to vary enormously - friends have theirs done for €50 per month, but I've seen other members on here saying they pay €90 p.m.

A couple of other things to consider - although we live only 10 minutes inland from the beach at Guardamar (Benimar is only a couple of minutes further), having our own pool means we avoid the crowds in the summer.  Also, whilst no-one could have predicted Covid-19, we don't have the inconvenience of only having a communal pool, many of which remain closed.  And you can't have a midnight swim in a communal pool 😉

Kind regards,

Kim

Your right Kim, and then theres ball games when you like such as water polo or volleyball you can't really play these in a shared pool, not to mention bombing whenever you feel like it.
