I am thinking of renting a property for a holiday in the Alicante province. I understand that the landlord should have a tourist license. How can I check that the property I wish to rent is legal. The landlord/owner has not included a tourist license number on the website.

Under the Valencia region regulations on holiday lets the License number MUST be included in all forms of advertising. It is actually a fineable breach of the regulations for omission. So first, ask for the License number, it will take this format VT-123456-A. You can check it with the office for tourism in Alicante but if you don't read Spanish that is difficult. You can just Google the number given as any established rental with have numerous online mentions.
