Hi

I am moving to Benimar in a couple of months with my Mum and Brother.

I am wanting a video door bell fitted to the Villa, so that when My Brother and I are out at work, my Mum can see who has rang the bell before she has to answer it.

Ideally I would like 2 or 3 extra Wi-Fi CCTV cameras to go along with it, but it doesn't necessarily have to be the same brand or a set.

I was going to purchase the RING doorbell here in the UK and bring it over with us, but I wasn't sure if it is compatible in Spain or if there were same spec, equal quality but cheaper versions readily available in Spain.

The same for CCTV cameras, have to be good quality high spec, minimum 720p but ideally 1080p cameras with full colour night vision and motion sensor too.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Lee

I have a video doorbell very similar to the ring one from eBay that cost less than £30 and also bought a four camera HD wired CCTV system for £80 plus the cost of a hard drive

How do you find the quality and whole experience of the cheaper doorbell Andrew? I have       attached a screenshot of the one I would like to purchase for the family villa from eBay for just under £24.

Did you purchase your camera kit from eBay too? Was that eBay.es or eBay.co.uk?

I don't mind hard wired CCTV cameras to be honest, but don't want to cover the outside of the Villa with wiring (Mum would not be happy lol)

Yes that's the one I bought from eBay uk, the instructions are poor and didn't mention that an SD card could be fitted, but I've compared performance with a Ring and there doesn't seem to be much difference. I went for wired cameras as even wireless ones require a power cable if you don't want to have to keep charging batteries or replacing them.

Thanks Villas.

I've checked the Swann Cloud and CCTV camera set on ebay and they look ideal, possibly a tad expensive for what I can afford as my savings have been almost totally depleted with the hidden and extra costs/taxes involved with moving to Spain... but something worth considering for sure 😎

Brilliant, thanks Andrew. I think I will give this one a shot then for the price, I don't have much to loose.  How do you find the battery consumption on the video doorbell? A lot of the reviews and forums I've read said some only last a couple of days to a week most before having to replace them..... I've seen a couple, slightly higher price, that you can wire to an existing doorbell wire (which our Villa has got) and it will draw it's power from that instead of batteries. Any thoughts?

I have a Ring doorbell in the UK and while it is very good, it is reliant on you having at least 3MB upload speed and a strong Wi-Fi connection. The upload speed is important because it needs to upload the video to the web. The problem is in Spain you may find a lot of the internet packages do not give you much upload speed - so worth doing a speed test first. This may be the same for any internet CCTV systems you use, not just Ring.
