Hi we will arrive in Benissa middle of June for holidays. Just wondering what supermarket you can recommend for good value. Many thanks

Hi my sister in law does her main food shopping in Benissa. She goes to Lidl, Iceland & Mercadona. There is also a consume.

All of these shops are on the main road through town.

There is little noticeable difference in quality/value between the main Spanish supermarkets, unlike UK.  Mercadona/Masymas/Consum are the most well known of the big Spanish chains, all perfectly good value, selling very similar products. Also Lidl and British Iceland chain, selling obviously, imported UK products, more expensive than buying most of the same stuff in whichever Spanish place you prefer - although of course they do have some things which you can’t buy elsewhere.

Although I confess I have never understood why anyone buys imported UK milk or butter at a premium, when one can pop next door to Consum and buy the perfectly good Spanish version for much less!!!! Ditto frozen sliced bread!!!!
