Good day Folkes

We are coming over to stay in Benitachell next February 2018 for one month and bringing our staffie Pippin with us .

Would like some advice as to where we can go / allowed to go to walk .

Any areas with a stream so can cool down , beach and any walking trails info in mountains forested areas .

Thank you very much for any help

Hi David & Sofi

You are aware of the restrictions on Staffords here aren't you?  They are on the dangerous dogs list and as such can only be walked in public on a short lead and Must be muzzled.

We moved here with our Staffords (we used to breed and show in the UK) and were horrified at the restrictions on our lovely breed.  As we live here we have to have a dangerous dogs licence for them as well as mega public liability insurance.  I have to admit that I do let mine run loose on the rambla near where we live, but there are no people around and they're never muzzled.  I often get passed by the Guardia Civil on the road back down to our house and they always say hello and so far have not said anything about the dogs being on their extendable leads or that they should be muzzled but, that isn't in a public place and I'm sure some will be more tolerant than others.

Do be careful folks and I hope you can find somewhere lovely to have some fun with them.

Val :)

Hi again David

When you do finally retire here you need to go to your local Ayuntamiento (local council) and they will explain the process for getting your dangerous dogs licence.  You will also need to take a medical and get public liability insurance, but they'll explain it all to you when you go.

Hope you find beaches near you that you feel you can take your Staff to.  Good luck.

Val

In February you won't need to cool them down

We are still trying to find an area near Benitachell where we can let our dog off

Hi Both

I have just moved to Benitachell with my old Staffie Cross. We take her to Cumbre Sol where there are several walks you can pick up and never see another soul.

I keep her on a lead if there is any sign of humans or other animals.I see lots of  people with dogs and can count on one hand the amount I have seen muzzled.

There is specified dog beachs at Altea,Denia,Calpe,El Campello and Gandia.Check Google for Dog Friendly Beaches

We take ours to Oliva beach by the golf course and El Verger. Here there are always loads of dog especially out of season.Obviously we are considerate to other beach users and keep her well away from bathers, children and fishermen etc

Happy Hols Angie

Good day to you Angie

Thank you very much for that info very helpful .

Would you know how we could find the routes you mention in cumbre .

One place we can see is Cala del Liebig ..a small cove off of cumbre .

We were going to try there .

Also in pego oliva we have seen there is a parque natural del marjel recommended ..a lake there ...

We also wonder if there is anywhere  in Jalon ...as we know a stream runs through ...

Thank you again Angie great news

And we will try the Altea beach and oliva as you mention

Hi Both

Have not been to the Oliva-Pego area with my dog.

My neighbour walks his 2 off their leads from Jalon across the fields to Lliber but do not know exactly where he picks the route up from.

On Cumbre Sol you can pick a couple of walks up from by the school and the riding stables.

If you have no joy let me know when you are in Benitachell and I will gladly meet up and show you where.
