Good morning

I have been sent an email from Ryanair containing flight credit vouchers.

However I would prefer a refund as I will be struggling to use them within the 12 months period the couches are valid for.

A bit of advise if you want a refund rather than the voucher do not click on the redeem the voucher as it takes you straight to you voucher and you have your voucher code And that is it. However when I have clicked on the link within the Email to process a refund and it takes me to a page that only explained how to use your vouchers ect,

I am Confused,  and unsure how to apply for a refund, any advice ? Before I have to ring up and spend half a day waiting on a phone

Thank you

Hi Adrienne,

Unless you want to go the legal route, I think you're going to have to wait for your refund.  This article from the UK's consumer organisation, Which?, explains the options:

https://www.which.co.uk/news/2020/04/ryanair-angers-passengers-with-vouchers-instead-of-refunds-for-cancelled-flights/

and this article from "The Guardian" includes some links that may be useful to you:

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2020/apr/24/coronavirus-travel-shutdown-rights-voucher-refund

Kind regards,

Kim

Save yourself the bother, you will only get the same answer as everyone else. Nobody is getting refunds at the moment it would seem just the promise that at some time in the future (at least a year from now), if you have not used your voucher, you will get a refund. They either tell you that security is compromised due to Covid-19 so they can't safely issue refunds or there are not enough staff to action them as they are all tied up on the phone speaking to people asking for refunds.
Keep checking the forum (as there have already been many, many posts about this) and the press for updates as I'm sure there will either be legal challenges or the government may sanction their actions due to extraordinary circumstances.
I'm prepared to wait as I would rather give them what is really an interest free loan on the value of my 4 flights than for them to go under. I'm not a Ryanair hater, quite obviously!

Hi  Can I ask if the vouchers are valid for 12 months can they be used on any route and do you loose out if the new flights are cheaper!!! or are they only valid for the route booked originally?  Thanks   Gillian

I'm sorry but I don't know. I am unlikely to travel within the 12 months so am only interested in a refund as, when and if that happens

The vouchers are valid for 12 month from the date of previous booking

You can book a flight after the date as long as you book it before the voucher expires for example you could book as flight for August 2021 but would have to do this before April 2021 ect

You can use your voucher on any flight with Ryan air or products they supply and and credit will be carried over

This is how understood it on the Ryanair info page

I also had 4 flight booked during April so they have £400 plus if my money

Should not be this frustrating to get a refund

I got the same offer for 2 bookings. I too would prefer the cash refund and I have asked for this, but who knows!

As far as I know. The vouchers can be used on any Ryanair Group routes, for all flights, destinations,  taxes, fees, seats, bags etc. Cannot be used for car hire or hotels. You can use part of the voucher and keep the balance if not needed all in one go. If you book flights that are more expensive you just pay for the additional amount. They are valid for 12 months, so while they need to be used (flights booked) within this time, your actually trip can be beyond this. They are basically like a gift card or credit note.

Hope that helps. Alan

Hi I direct messaged Ryanair on Twitter here’s their response:

Hi,

To add you to the refund queue, we’d like the following:

- Type “Booking Reference” and include 6 digit reference code

- Full name of the passengers

- Route, date and time

- The email entered in the booking

- last 4 digits of the credit card which was used to pay for the booking

Please note that as our payment agents are required to work from home in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, payment security restrictions prevent us from processing cash refunds as quickly as we would like to. Your voucher will be valid until the refund is paid. See more here: https://www.ryanair.com/ie/en/useful-info/refund-voucher

Stay safe and thanks for your patience!
