Transit through Alicante Airport

Daughter arrived Saturday. Plane landed at 1720 and she came through to arrivals at  1735 after going through the machines. No luggage to collect but really quick through the EES system.

She said it was very simply, a guide asked if she'd been through the system before. She said no so he said fingerprints there, passports there and through to the manned point with no passport stamped and was told she wouldn't have to do it next time.

While UK authorities may accept an expired passport ( or one that is over 10years old), Spanish border authorities and airlines will not. They will refuse you at boarding and that will leave you in a pickle.

Are you aware of the 90/180 rule regarding your stay, as it looks from your post that you intend to stay for maybe a year?...

If this is the case and you overstay the 90/180 and then have an expired passport then when you are caught you are in serious trouble. 

Renew your passport by post when you are in Spain (this will solve the passport problem) but the overstay can lead to large fines, banning from all schengen countries or worse
