Hi Declan

You have to pass a written test for a gun licence in Spain unless you can find a Gestor who has Guardia contacts and get your Irish licence accepted......  I´ve done it but I speak some Spanish....  The gun clubs are the most appalling outfits that I have ever encountered.  They have no idea about safety, their fun day of shooting is to fire quail from an air mortar, or just throw them in the air, and shoot them while bystanders rush forward to collect the wounded birds.  A sight that I never want to see again...

Good luck

Richard

Hello

I do not know what is involved in the test because my UK shotgun licence was accepted without the need for it.    We are talking about a shotgun licence and not a firearms certificate which, in the UK, is an entirely different thing - I know because I had both.

In Spain you have to pass the health check and mental evaluation for a shotgun licence.

Hoe this gives you some insight!

Cheers

Richard

Hi Chris

Hunting permission is best sought when you are a member of a club.  Unlike Italy where you can roam over anybodies land with a gun (!!) in Spain there are designated hunting areas and permission of the landowner is needed.  Start by joining a gun club and take it from there.

Best of luck.

Chris

I did not want to be associated with any gun club in Spain because they are all unsafe lunatics - shotgun or rifle.    Join one and you will see!!

I will not answer any more questions on the subject because the Spanish are unsafe with any weapon!

Cheers

Richard
