At last she has been prosecuted and jailed even if its only for 4 months along with some of her cohorts. She is also banned from holding office for 20 months. It should have been a longer sentence and she should never be allowed near a council or another influencial office again. Imho.

She and others were corrupt and the Orihuela Costa was robbed of investment and still is today. When you look at the size of the Orihuela Costa and the thousands of property within the area. Where is all the money? Its disgraceful.

Yes, disgraceful, but not a surprise.

4 months prison sentence doesn´t mean jail. In Spain you don't normally go to jail if sentenced to less than 2 years unless you have accumulated sentences that add up to 2 years not served in prison or other special circumstances.

Can you tell me please how  they do serve their sentence. I have googled but can't find an answer.

In the Leader and Olive tree papers its said she has been Jailed. So I'm assuming that's what it means. It didn't say a suspended, Community service, fined or anything else in regard to that, only the history behind it and some other named associates thats have been given a similar sentence. The only other order was that she couldn't hold any office for 20 months. Only an idiot would vote for her after this.

True, thats also why we left the EU, idiots thinking the Uk could go back to "The good old days". Only trouble with that is, that was a myth. If people look back in history over the past 100 years, it really has not been that great for Mr and Mrs average. 2 wars that bankcrupted the country and successive governments of all colours never really improved our lot.

What were the two wars that bankrupted the country in the past 100 years?

The prison sentences and fines imposed for rigging the Orihuela garbage collection contract in the early years of this century are not the only penalties facing the nine defendants in this case, the so-called " main case" of Operation Brugal. Five of them, including the town's mayor at the time, Mónica Lorente , two of her councilors ( Antonio Rodríguez Murcia and Ginés Sánchez Larrosa ), businessman Ángel Fenoll , and one of his associates, Francisco Javier Bru , will also have to jointly and severally compensate the Orihuela City Council with more than five million euros , the amount at which the damage caused to public funds by their actions has been assessed.
