Hello All,

Myself and my wife 54 & 52  respectfully are planning to move to Spain from Ireland in the very near future,

Could do with some insight form you lucky people who have already taken the plunge,

Can anyone give advice on Private Health Insurance companies ,

Rough cost of living for two people,

We own our own Apt there but will probably buy a second to live in and use current as income ,

We would really appreciate any advice and info available first hand from yourselves.

This is Spain. Everything needs formal approval.

If you are thinking of renting out you will need a tourist rental licence.  Operating without a licence risks very large fines. If you dont already gave one its a 3 stage process.

1 Habitation Certificate

2 Orihuela Town Hall property approval     ( currently takes at least 6 months)

3 Tourist rental licence (currently takes at least a year after you get town hall approval)

Total cost between (€300-€500).

If your rental property is on a community check the community rules on rentals. some community rules limit or block rentals.

Gladys.

Hi,

can’t really comment on the rental side for you, however we have just taken out health insurance through ASSSA at La Zenia. We are of similar age to yourselves with no underlying issues. The cost was just over €800 each. Not the the cheapest but comprehensive and the price doesn’t rise annually as you get older.

If you contact ASSSA ask for Valentina, she was very helpful.

A couple of websites that may be of help.

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain for bureaucratic stuff, and

N332 for anything to do with driving in Spain and is for English speaking people.   The website, and their Facebook page, is run in colaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil and has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code on it.
