Flying into Murcia airport on Ryanair in May. First time using this airport so any advice would be welcome. Also car rental recommendations would be appreciated.

Public bus transport to and from Murcia Airport is sadly lacking, with the only options being to transfer to Murcia City or Cartagena, before making an onward connection    https://murciainternationalairportcorvera.com/bus-service/

There are some other bus services, but they are seasonal and subject to change at short notice, better check closer to time,

Can't help with car hire, sorry

The only bus service ever was suspended long ago due to lack of demand. Only taxis are (hopefully available. Mind this airport wherever possible, it is in the middle of nowhere. I live in Murcia and like many others use Alicante whenever I have to travel.

No public transport, but all usual car hire firms at airport. Much better than Alicante less busy

I agree. Have used Murcia a few times now. Very quiet so off plane and into arrivals hall in no time at all. There are a number of car hire companies right outside the terminal building with very little queuing time. But be careful because some, such as Avis, are off site. Journey time to Cabo Roig is about 40 minutes. You won't regret it and once used you will never want to use Alicante again.

Do not use Goldcar!!

Drivilla/ Leasys booked via ryanair car hire or rental.com are ok. They are off site but you will get picked up by minibus. 5 minutes from airport.

We have home seen 2004 in Murcia we used to fly to San Javier , which was easy, but we have used Murcia since it opened in 2019 last used it December ,and going in end of May, it's quite easy and nothing like Alicante, as for car hire we have hired since 2004, Murcia Corvera is good for car hire but since Covid the prices have rocketed, so we have been getting picked up by a taxi, because we usually go for six weeks, some of the car hire is on the  airport, try Doyouspain, Century, Rentalcars, Goldcar. you might be happy with the prices, have a look

I have been using Goldcar for the last 4 years and I have never had a problem. Perhaps this is because I take the full insurance package. I know this is more expensive but it does mean that I don't have to worry about checking the car on collection or worry about the condition when I return it. Last time the clutch went on a fairly new car and they arranged collection easily. I had to get a taxi to Murcia International to get a replacement but they refunded the cost of the taxi within a matter of weeks. I will keep using Goldcar, but each to their own.
