Check out www.getlegalinspain.com

I found them very helpful when I applied for my residency last July.

If your friend holds British passport then he will need to apply for TIE, not residencia, which will need to be started in the UK before he moves to Spain.  This is the link with the details

Hi Monkey,

If your friend is a UK citizen and can prove that they were living permanently in Spain before 31 December 2020, they may still be able to apply for residency/TIE under the pre-Brexit rules, but they need to act without further delay and I'd recommend using a gestor to help do it.

Kind regards,

Kim
