Theft of phone from table outside O'Riordans

Looking to see where do I go, (Police Station), to report the theft of a mobile phone, There were 4 x Local Police on the beat on the strip tonight, who just seem to fob me off, nothing they could do they were only "Local"!!, and didn't really explain what i had to do, is there a local Police station i need to go to?
The theft was blatant, my phone was on the table, a "beggar", possibly eastern European, looking pregnant, grubby clothes and hat, started flashing a sheet of paper in front of me, my wife and my family, leaned over the table, and palmed the phone away, by the time we noticed she had legged it...
Any help would be appreciated.
