Hi Folks

My wife and I have had our holiday home in the Cabo Roig area now for 3 years and absolutely love it and the whole area.  We are looking to try and make the move permanent sooner than later and if possible this summer.  As long as my wife have internet access she can continue working for her current employer and so happy days there.  Me, on the other hand would need to find some sort of work to keep me busy and provide a bit of income, otherwise I'd spend far too much time on the golf course or indeed the 19th hole! I've worked in IT all my life and don't really have any other skills, although I can do website design.  Has anyone out there got any ideas, experience of finding work when they've relocated to the area?  I'm a keen golfer so if anyone knew of anything in that area that would be useful?  Also, I've thought about possibly buying a mini bus for airport shuttles, golf transfers etc., anyone got an opinion on whether that might a viable option?

Would appreciate any views, thoughts, opinions and of course help.

Many thanks in advance.

Brian

"As long as my wife have internet access she can continue working for her current employer and so happy days there"

Not so fast, she can't just work and say nothing, not even on the internet, either her employer would have to set up a Spanish branch for her to work for or she will have to set up her own business to invoice them through.

There can be very severe penalties for getting caught working on the black.

Same for you for ideas about minibusses etc. for which you'd need licences and they are hard and time consuming to get even for the Spanish.

Precious little other work around of any description and call it next to zero if you don't have the language.

Bottom line, if a need to earn a living is core to making the move then your plan could be a non starter.

Hi MovingOn

Many thanks for this advice, it's greatly appreciated, so might need to rethink the whole thing and just retire permanently then!

Cheers

Brian

Hi RayD

Many thanks for the quick response, it's very useful and a great insight.  I was a bit aware of having to go through the ropes of doing everything legally so probs need to put a bit more thought into it.  Probs my "full" retirement will just need to come earlier and the golf courses will be the winners.

cheers

Brian
