TRAM station in Plaza de los Luceros, you'll need to go down to the first level to purchase the tickets. The platforms are on a lower level. The TRAM frequency from Alicante to Benidorm is every 30 minutes. Single fare is around €2.80.

The tram is right in the centre of Alicante, there is multiple entrances but it's near the main station which is sign posted and also has buses to it

You're very welcome. Enjoy the trip to Benidorm. The scenery en route is amazing.
Don't forget your sandwiches and a flask of coffee. LOL

Hi all,
Just a little update on our trip from Cabo Roig to Benidorm using public transport.
We caught the 9:05 bus from the Cabo Strip to Alicante.
On arrival at Alicante Bus Station we walked for about 15 minutes to the Tram Station. We bought 2 return tickets to Benidorm (€9.60 for both) at the ticket machines.
The trip to Benidorm was fantastic, absolutely beautiful views. The trip takes just over an hour. The tram was spotlessly clean and the seats are comfortable.
We enjoyed a lovely meal in Benidorm and had a very enjoyable walk around the Old Town before the 20 minute uphill walk to the tram station.
The return tram trip was lovely, it was nicely air conditioned in the tram.
On arrival in Alicante we went back to the bus station in plenty of time to catch the 18:45 bus to Pilar de La Horidada via Cabo Roig. Unfortunately we didn’t realise that we had to reserve a seat on the bus, even though we were using the Avanza bus card and we were not allowed board the bus.
We had to go upstairs in the bus station to either buy tickets or if using the card to reserve seats. There were no reservations available for the 18:45 bus, but we did reserve seats on the next and last bus at 19:30. Thankfully we had given ourselves plenty of time. But it was a lesson learned.
Overall we had a fantastic day out and would highly recommend it.
Thank you to all on the forum who gave me such great advice.
