Hola,

I went to the new little tapas restaurant next to the Tower by Cabo Roig marina. Not the bigger La Tasca one next door. This is just a little one on the left hand side. Very authentic Spanish set in a nice little courtyard with about twenty seats/tables.  There are about six bar stools inside a little Spanish type finca.

Just be aware it’s closed Sunday and Mondays and I think all of November.

Tucked away it’s a real little gem. Spanish only menu.

Enjoy

Gladys x

The menu was in Spanish and the waiter's English was OK but not brilliant so he couldnt describe all the items on the menu into English.

The tapas were about €3 each and the Racion up to €9. I didnt know what I was ordering so it was all a bit of a surprise. They give free almond nuts with a drink. I then had the padron peppers which are fried little green peppers. Too much for one person but great for two people €5.

Then I had something called Mortella which turned out to be black pudding on bread €3. I had a Murcian salad which was peeled, sliced plum tomatos, dulce onion slices, olives (black and green) in olive oil €2. I also had something called Cantabrian Anchoa which was salted anchovies in olive oil €4. Bread was included. A great feast with drinks total €17.50

Go and give Tasca a try. Have a pot luck like me and see what you get.

I hope you enjoy it.

Gladys

Thanks for the recommendation on this Gladys, we popped down to Tasca on Friday and it was exactly as you described a charming little Tapas bar inside the Watchtower but run independently. The waiter was ever so helpful, we speak a little Spanish and his English was good enough for us to make an educated choice, we had the tuna and tomatoes to start followed by his recommendation of the house special of char-grilled pork which we decided to be accompanied with patatas bravas and padron peppers, the pork was incredibly well presented and so tender it left us wanting more, we rounded our meal off with whiskey cake and a glass of port, a lovely meal and reasonably priced

This authentic little Tapas restaurant only lacks more clientele as apart from us there were only a few people on tables having a social drink. that said it won't stop us returning

Dear Happy Hammer,

So glad you liked it. I think it's a lovely little bar. I've never seen many there but the word will get round eventually. Whisky Cake sounds delicious. Must give that a try. Thanks for letting me know everything was OK. Gladys x

Hi Gladys - how is this little restaraunt coping now that the summer is here, we are due out on Wednesday for 2 weeks and will want to pay a visit - will we need to book well in advance?

Hi Steve we tried to go there when we were out in May and it was closed, we attempted to go there last weekend and when we walked up it was again closed so went to Bahia, last night I rang up the watchtower and enquired in Spanish if the restaurant was open they told me it wasn't, he mentioned something else but wasn't sure if he'd said it's now permanently closed as my Spanish isn't that good

Be a shame if it has as the food was excellent, arguably the nicest tapas in the area, we're leaving later so won't get a chance to walk down there again so good luck
