Hi I am looking for a recommendation for an air conditioning repair person. It is not a big job simply replacing the connection at the bottom of the external box where the hose connects to as it leaks water when AC on rather than draining down the hose Thanks in advance.

It's a regular occurrence with aircon units. In the vast majority of cases it's just that the outlet from the aircon unit to the pipe becomes blocked.

I first try blowing up the pipe from the bottom, and that often clears it. Otherwise a piece of stiff wire with a bend at the end to prod the debris free.

That's why I said blow up the pipe, Simon! I wrap a clean tissue round the pipe before I do so.

The pipes on my aircon units are only about three metres long, and the trays on my Panasonic aircon units are shallow, so there's not a lot of water pressure to overcome. The problem really is that there's a drain from both the internal and external units, so blowing up the pipe may not clear the blocked drain outlet.

I do recognise the validity of what you say though. Someone reported recently that they got four litres of water coming out of an aircon unit when they cleared the blockage.

I had a leak from my unit which sits above the terrace yesterday. The ac unit itself was leaking water. As others have said it's an easy fix - strange kind of jelly substance did one end with a kebab skewer and detached the outlet pipe which connected to the unit. Ran the hose pipe down it for a short while and all of the gunk passed through.

All back to normal now - anyone for a kebab? :)

Thank you all for the useful information and for the anecdotes about clearing pipes. Unfortunately my unit sits on a sloped roof And whilst I did manage to scramble up there last year and hold on with dear life it is an experience I’d rather not repeat but the info you have all provided has been invaluable . Thank you
