Just arrived back in Cabo Roig from one of the first UK flights for months only to find our boiler has been leaking all over the kitchen and our tiled floor.  Not sure if it can be repaired or may been a new tank.  Can anyone recommend someone or help asap please?

Hard to say without knowing where the leak is on it but hopefully you were able to switch off the water supply going into the tank itself and isolate it.

Yes, turned off water for now to stop any further issues. I spoke to Paul Taylor (as advertised on this site), and he was very helpful even although he is unfortunately in the UK at the moment.  He provided some advice, but thinks the tank will need replaced (happy start to the holiday!)  Now need to try and find a reputable person to take a look and recommend the way forward.

It’s good you have had good advice and that the water is off. Mine went a couple of years ago but I’m afraid I can’t recommend anybody as I changed it myself. There should be quite a few on here who could recommend a good plumber. I bought my boiler off the shelf in Leroy Merlin’s at La Zenia & if I remember right they offered a fairly cheap fitting service as did Aki in The Habaneras.

Go to your local Ferreteria, if they can't help then go to the one in La Florida opposite the Abbey Tavern, they can often have one fitted within the same day, their customer service is second to none.

The same thing happened to us. The tank rusted from the inside out around the pipe connections. Luckily we were home when it started.

Vic Bates is your man from Ace Air Conditioning. He replaced ours as well as doing our A/C units over the years.

Great guy......no nonsense.

A bit of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted but if leaving a property empty you need to drain everything down and turn the water off at the mains otherwise the insurance will not pay out. From memory, I think mine says something like a maximum of 90 hours being left unattended which makes sense as damage will be much worse if the leak has continued over several weeks.

As Kenbo says try the Brico in La Florida opposite The Abbey, we had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago, one phone call to them and we went to pay for a new water heater, they arranged for an installer to bring the heater to our property and it was installed within a hour. Excellent service in store and from the installer.

I've heard nothing but good things about this shop. I've bought some bits and bobs there and they are really helpful.

We have found Jim to be very reliable and reasonable. Tel no is 0034711001154

Our boiler will need repacing soon and he will be our port of call
