We want to apply for our padron and residency but unsure how to go about it, can we do it ourselves or do we need a lawyer? and how much does it cost.? I have been living here since June and my husband will be here permanently in October.

Thanks Cheryl. My guides include separate guides to the residency certificate and the padrón. The padrón is free and the residency certificate is up to €12.

Most welcome Jim, I often struggle to find information which is already on the forum so I'm happy to pass on all the excellent guides you put together for us all.

Your guides on swimming pools are hubby's current bedtime reading and he also had a few chuckles over your summary of Spanish wiring.

All the best to you and Margaret.

Thank you for the info as we were speaking to someone who is just doing it through a lawyer and they have paid €500, just wondered if this was the average.

I paid nearly 500 euro which included several translations that were required. For example Chinese documents into Spanish. We also had someone meet us at Orihuela.  I stupidly forgot my passport but still managed to get my residency with the help of the lawyer assistant.  Only in Orihuela.
