Hi

We are renting at the moment in la marquesa golf and are looking at different area to move permanently. My question is we are in our 60s and won't be driving so is it a good place to live for retirees wanting a nice social life and are there bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc within walking distance

Hi Tricia,

Cabo Roig is pretty close to the beach and has nice walks and beaches both ways along the coast. The residential areas near the beach seem nice (from walking through them). It has a “strip” of bars and restaurants that look oriented towards tourists and British / Irish folk. Busy from spring to late autumn, quiet November through February I think. Besides a few smaller places, there’s one biggish supermarket (Consum maybe?) at the top of the strip. I’ve heard people say that living too close to the strip can be noisy at night. Walking from the strip to the La Zenia roundabout takes about 15 minutes - from there you have loads of walkable shopping options, but it can amount to a lot of walking overall if you go that way. There are other residential parts on the inland side of the 332 which have other options for both shopping and entertainment but I don’t know much about them. Good luck with your search.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thank you so much for your reply it was so helpful and has enforced my belief that this would be the area for us, we're in la marquesa golf at the moment but will be making lots of visits to la flamenca in the future

Thank you

Tricia

Beach side of N332 in Cabo Roig is quiet but properties are more expensive than the inland side. Either La Zenia or Cabo Roig are fine and providing you are not right on top of the strip everywhere else is good. Easy to walk for supermarkets, tennis, beach, restaurants, bars, doctors, pharmacists. I prefer Cabo Roig because it can be very quiet or lively depending on what you want. Gladys x
