My Friend recently arrived at her house to find the electricity was off. They have been with Iberdrola for over 18 years. Iberdrola told her she longer had a contract with them, she was bemused and said she did and they told her she had changed to Total Energy. She said no she hadn't changed to them. They insisted she had, so as she was getting no answers from iberdrola, she found the number for Total energy, she explained and they said they couldn't help her as their name didn't match the contract number for that address and refused to go any further and the bill has not been paid either. she said she would pay the bill but they said no you are not the Contract holder.

She has contacted her solicitor but he doesn't appear to be able to get to the bottom of this. The house still has no supply.

How could this happen and has anyone on hear heard of this happening to anyone else.

Is there any Consummer rights bodies that could help her?

Thanks for your reply, my friends haven't sold the property they've owned it for 18 years and have never changed suppliers from Iberdrola.

I will pass on your info re a cancellation request.

Advise you mr friend to go into the nearest Iberdrola office with copies of any bank statements showing payments have been made to their account

Thanks for answers. I don't understand it either,  for a customer to be switched to another supplier without them knowing and in another name on their address. I've passed on your suggestions.

I would get your friend or their Solicitor to check with the Spanish equivalent of land registry to ensure everything is in your friends name. Strange this seems to be happening with no one able to explain why.
