Would like to hard wire connect from modem upstairs to TV downstairs. I have tried wifi extenders but that does not work well through concrete.

Where can I purchase at least 50 feet of Ethernet cable.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Geoff,

I had a similar (but UK) requirement. eBay has such and wasn't too expensive. I went for 100 foot (edited - metres as Motorman said), which I am advised is about as far as you can push it. It worked fine.

Good luck ;-)

Both Brico Depot and Leroy Merlin have it on reels.

CAT5 & CAT6 are both good for 100m

...as long as you are confident in crimping the connectors in place? ;-) I've had mixed success with that but you can test it with a scope. May be me but buying as done worked.

No I am not confident about crimping the connectors in place. Is there a tool for that?

Would the stores crimp the connectors in place after I have chosen the length?

Or should I buy a crimping tool and do you know if that is easily available?

And lastly do you know of anyone that can run the cable for me?

Many thanks for your help.

What about power line plugs, that use the electrical cables for getting signals between powerline plugs in different locations?

(Assumes the points are on the same circuit)

If the store will, then I'd take that option Geoff as the responsibility stays with them for it to be perfect. It is not particularly hard to do, just mixed results here. If it was a short run and throw-away then fine, but you will have invested a little already so to work is rather important.

The kit isn't expensive, you are not connecting fibre here! A crimper which looks a bit like a set of special pliers and a small test box. Will find you pictures or links.

This looks like the 2 together as a kit... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crimping-Stripper-Ethernet-Networking-Connectors/dp/B06WW8F8G3/ref=asc_df_B06WW8F8G3/?tag=cstareg-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309968313994&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14697937324314184989&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045045&hvtargid=pla-583818654453&psc=1
