Hello.
I am looking for information on car registration. I will be relocating by the end of this year full time to Calpe. I will be needing to buy a new car and wondering if it is better value to buy one here in Belgium or wait to buy one in Spain. Does anyone have any info on costs ?

I think new cars are roughly the same cost in Spain as in other Eurozone countries (and the UK).
Used cars are expensive in Spain compared to elsewhere.
If you bring a car to Spain and keep it here for more than 6 months, it needs to be re-registered here, and this is costly.
The costs include paying a tax, which is dependent on the age, value and CO2 rating of the car.
Old cars are much cheaper to import (>10 years old)

I have to agree used cars here in Spain are very expensive to buy.!!
Your best bet is to buy over in Belgium I think unless you can buy one from UK and have it transported down to Spain. Linda.
I bought a used seat for 1500€ and leave it there for our holiday home....the car isn’t a looker but it’s bullet proof, runs like a dream, starts every time, it’s such a good cheap bargain that our friends frequently borrow it when their more modern car keeps going into the garage. Cheap insurance too.
