Do I need to pay tax for garden landscaping?

Could anyone tell me whether I would need to go to the town hall for permission or pay tax on general garden renovations ( tiling, driveway etc)?

If you're just improving something that's already there, then you probably don't need to do anything.

If you're doing something new, then you probably need a 'licensia de obra menor' from your town hall to obtain permission. It's not a tax as such, but a fee based on the cost of the job in question, and is normally easy to obtain.

Many thanks Kimmy. I think I will be taking a visit to the town hall! A couple of people we had asked were suggesting that we wouldn't need to for what we were doing as it wasn't a 'construction' or 'addition' to the outside, but I think we had best check!
