Like most properties outside the Spanish cities my house is “blessed” with a fosa (septic tank), in fact I have two. The main Fosa is fed by the bathrooms and toilets. The second is newer and fed from the kitchen, washing up machine and washing machine.

This second fosa is the problem child at the moment and it suffers from a build-up of detergents and grease rests from cooking utensils and doesn’t seem to demonstrate the filtration it should, probably due to a thin layer of grease / detergent lining the walls and floor.

A recent emptying and cleaning doesn’t seem to have helped very much.

My question is how or if these grease build-ups can be dissipated by some chemical method without poisoning the water table, flowers and shrubs.

The weekly dose of sachets of biological activator don’t seem to help much.

I would be grateful for any viable suggestions.

Not sure about new ones but we used to chuck a dead deer into ours in Sweden worked wonders, perhaps a rabbit or three :)

Hello "MiniMike",

I think you should go for a New Biological Tank.

Try this company, which installed mine.

Many thanks Trevor M.

I will be in contact with the supplier you suggested.
