I understand, and this unfortunate behaviour does seem to have been prevalent. However, even in UK, it is the first rule of thumb NEVER to use any lawyer/abogado recommended by the agent. And I believe many of the dishonest transactions here have involved non-Spanish ‘solicitors/lawyers’, nei...

Yes, as it has been stated elsewhere it is Brits robbing Brits.

Wow agent bashing.... actually our agent was great and honest, the sellers agent ,unsolicited ,told us the area was quiet as it was in a cul de sac at the base of the rock! So why would we have investigated further?

And.... our lawyer was honest helpful and great !

Hello from fellow apartment owners in Calpe.

We notice that you have not yet moved into your apartment so you are relying on the word of others.

In our experience, the Spanish authorities are very strict in imposing rules about noise. They really do not want tourism to suffer because of it. We have seen bars closed for up to two weeks when the noise from Karaoke has "leaked" into the neighbourhood. (Not in Calpe we must add.) We have also been told by our neighbours who have owned in Calpe for a lot longer than us that the local police respond to noise complaints in a very few minutes.

We have owned our property here in Calpe for two and a half years now and have no regrets. Calp has everything: bars, restaus, shops, beaches, promenades and great people. Don't let what you have heard spoil things for you but if or when you have a disturbed night, ring the police immediately. We truly believe you will have much more pleasure than pain!

Thanks so much for that bit of clarification, I was reading reviews from people who had rented apartments in the very place we have bought.I don’t think it is so much the music but the noise of the people in the streets ,and in fact when we inquired from the administration of our apartment building ,which is not very large, they say that they have gotten the road closed off to cars because people were parking and coming back to their cars at seven in the morning screaming and making a noise ,so yes, I am very nervous ,we will be there in October and I’m hoping that the Club scene is done. We can talk to the neighbors and ask about the other months it would be a pity to have to avoid the entire summer just because of tourists and Screaming teenagers. Apparently they collect outside the club on the promenade and sit up there and scream and shout all night long. Our administrator told us that they have increased police presence there so hopefully that will help.

To be fair we spend May and June here and then September to October but I reiterate that the police are very helpful so contact them as and when. Tourism is extremely important to Spain! You have a voice and don't be fobbed off!

We have owned an apartment very close for 17 years, In the past the noise from the nightclubs was excessive but this is barely noticeable now. Even then the majority of nuisance used to be idiots on noisy scooters etc but again this is diminished.

The main culprit is the noise of young people talking in the usual Spanish vocal way in the streets (of which the club owners have no control).

The clubs are open the majority of the year and we have stayed almost every month of the season finding August / September to be the worse, but given the extreme temperatures we close the doors and turn on the air con and are not disturbed at all.

Enjoy your purchase you will struggle to find better views, location, restaurants, amenities and people and the minor irritant will fall into insignificance as all being said and done you are in a fantastic resort.

Thanks for responding, what is the month of June like with regards to tourists and noise. I believe school ends June 22nd and we can expect tourists to start pouring in from then.

We were there during June / July there was some noise but didn't effect our lifestyle in the least.

As for tourists the busiest time we found to be August.

It generally gets busy on the beach during late July through August and also on Sundays as the locals come to the many good restaurants and beach.

As I say don't worry about the noise just enjoy your stay, if it gets too much for you consider moving inland slightly, away from the life blood of the town being tourists visitors participating the local amenities and establishments.
