Hi, we have an American rv that is under 9 meters long and weighs 7000 kgs, can you offer touring sites in Calpe that can accommodate our big motorhome

Hello. There is no way a max 30ft long American RV will ever weigh 7 tons even towing a vehicle behind it. It may if one puts a hosepipe through the window and leaves the tap running for several days if the alloy side pannels would take the stress re-water which it would not.   I think you need to re-calculate your figures on the registration document. At 30ft I personally would not consider that to be a large RV. I would presume your RV will weigh no more than 3.2/5 tons, that's max. A rolls Royce Silver Shadow comes in at just over 2 tons in weight, there is no way whatsoever your RV weighs times 3 and a bit Silver Shadows. Look at your logbook/Registration cert carefully, 7,000llb NOT KG would be approx just over 3 tons in weight. I do not need to look on the computer for figures. I ran a haulage company in the UK for nearly 50 years so know my weight's. Once you establish the correct RV weight which may even be late 2,850kg you will be in a better position to go online to various sites to see where you may be allowed to park. My Regards, Jonathan Redhead.

RV’s weigh a lot more than you think.

European vans, built on a boxer/relay/Ducato chsssis weigh in at 3500kg, and many at 4250kg….. tag axles built on te same chassis can be as high as 5500kg.

My own Motorhome is at 5250kg and it’s European & know for a fact that American  RV’s routinely weigh in at 7000kg…. many are even heavier than that. I’ve often looked at them but decided against buying one.

Hello. Thank you for your reply. I do not disagree with anything you have said. I also thank you for replying in a nice manour which many on this site now sadly do not, spoiling the site with rude remarks and vulgarity. One of the main reasons Jim Taylor sadly left, a huge miss. I will always wish him well in life. The reason I disagree is the lady said their motor home is less than 9 metres in length. I, therefore, presume it's sitting on a 26/27/28ft chassis or pressed steel framework of some sort. I just cannot see 7 tonnes on that length framework, thus leaving a very modest 500kg for travellers/people, loading and filling water tanks/fuel to keep to the 7500kg limit before one needs an HGV licence. Some of these RV's are quite some length so this is the "baby of the range", with  I presume wonderful power steering. No doubt the lady in question has a motor home far plusher than the inside of my modest Finca. That was why I also asked the lady to double-check the weight of her vehicle in case she was "cutting her own throat" ringing up to find a site giving a gross overweight of the said vehicle resulting in sorry it's too heavy to allow on our site. The length is fine but the weight ????. Once again thank you for your courteous reply. Sincerely. Jonathan.
